Fire Operations
Fire Suppression
We provide fire suppression and search and rescue operations for active fire scenes. We have Engine 3212 and Tanker 3221 both equipped with a fire pump to provide water support using hand lines and large supply lines. “Hand lines” are the fire hoses used to put out the fire. Firefighters practice routinely on pump and hose operations.
Hazardous Materials Operation
We provide hazardous material spill management support for any chemical spills. Spill/Command 3291 is equipped with clean up equipment and absorbent supplies to contain a chemical spill. The goal is to reduce the impact on the environment and community by helping properly identify chemicals, protect any exposures, contain the spill and appropriately dispose of the chemical.
Vehicle Rescue
We provide vehicle, trench and high angle rescue support on rescue scenes. Woodlawn covers any accidents on major interstates such as Route 22 thruway. We practice routinely on rescue, ropes and confined space techniques to ensure safe working operations.
Air Supply
In partnership with Lehigh County Emergency Management Services, Cascade 3292 provides county and regional air supply support to fire scenes. Air supply is needed when firefighters used their SCBA (breathing apparatus) inside a house and need their air cylinders to be refilled with new air. Refilling the air cylinders allows firefighters to return to fighting the fire.
Quick Response Services (QRS)
We provide emergency medical services in conjunction with Cetronia Ambulance (primary EMS provider of the township) as a credential EMS organization through the Pennsylvania Department of Health Bureau of EMS. QRS is a non-transporting, quick response EMS program designed to help assess and manage onscene any medical complaints.
Tanker Operation
We provide tanker support for large fires in non-hydrant areas of the township and surrounding area. Tanker 3221 is equipped with 2500 gallons of water enough to handle most initial response needs. Large fires may require a “tanker taskforce” comprised of multiple tankers bring water to the fire scene. We routinely practice tanker setup and drafting of water.
Fire Police
Fire Police are sworn personnel who have been duly nominated and sworn in by a District Magistrate in accordance with Pennsylvania State Fire Police Law. Fire Police duties vary based on the incident, but generally include three primary duties: Scene Safety, Traffic Control, Crowd Control.
