OUR HISTORY

A charter was granted on April 2nd, 1928 with 113 members. The grand opening of the social hall was held on December 14th, 1929.

On January 12th, 1937, our first engine house was complete, and, on June 10th, 1937, our first motorized piece of equipment was dedicated: a 1937 Hahn 350 GPM Pumper.

This was the first enclosed cab in the Lehigh Valley area.

In November 1975, the fire department moved into our new engine house at 1651 Whitehall Avenue, which we still occupy present day.

Today, Woodlawn Fire Department is a part of The South Whitehall Fire Departments, which has four (4) stations: Cetronia Fire Department on the South side, our Woodlawn station in the Central, Greenawalds Fire Rescue on the North and Tri-Clover Volunteer Fire Co. services the extreme North End of the township. We all proudly serve the community of South Whitehall Township, Pennsylvania as their all-volunteer fire departments.

South Whitehall Township is located in Lehigh County of Eastern Pennsylvania. The township currently encompasses 17 square miles and has a population of about 20,000 people.
